What are you up to now?:
I live in Brooklyn, NY with my wife Kebra and son Campbell (born 9/9/09). I started a real estate development firm in 2005 and renovate/sell Brownstones in Brooklyn. See my web-site at brooklyhomecompany.com. I also dabble in acting/singing/mischief and am a passionate golfer and Buffalo Bills fan.
Has HS affected the general trajectory of your life? If so, how?:
The Hyannis Sound gave me the confidence I needed to become a man. That sounds corny but it's true. The Sound experience taught me that when you have the support of a group behind you anything is possible. Sharing music is a wonderful, organic way to connect to people and I rank my two summers on the Cape as some of the best days of my life. As I raise my son, I hope he gets to experience comraderie and unity the way I experienced it on Cape Cod with my Hyannis Sound brothers.
Tell us about your favorite on-stage moment...:
Singing "Dancing Nancies" was a hoot due to Samrat's storytelling and the backgrounds ability to stay together and work the choreography. We were also very tight on "Pinball Wizard" and "Pride". Whenever our performances were tight it was a pleasure to watch the audience's expressive, smiling faces. To move people with song is a powerful feeling. Whenever I couldn't see the audiences faces (because the lights were dim and shining on us) I was always disappointed and eager to get back to our church shows so we could see our audience again.
What was your craziest HS tour adventure?:
The Hyannis Sound visited Skidmore to open for my group, The Skidmore Dynamics in 1998. A bunch of Sound alumni came back to sing including Rob and Judd. After a huge party at my house following the performance it was my job to get up in the morning and round up the guys so they could catch planes, trains, whatever.....As I searched my destroyed house, it was a barrell of laughs finding Judd sleeping on a salvaged mattress IN MY UNFINISHED ATTIC, and to find Rob Stewart huddled up in our Sauna with the heat cranked up. Both guys were sleeping soundly.
What is your favorite HS recording?:
Actually, my favorite HS recording is Nate Altimari's solo "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" from On the Beach. It doesn't have all bling you come to expect from a HS album these days but Nate sings everything out of that song. Good work Nate! You owe me a beer!
