Jared Graveley is ecstatic to be returning to the cape for his second summer as the Music Director of Hyannis Sound! Jared is a 20 year old Bass-Baritone from West Hartford, CT, and will be starting his final year as a music major at UConn in the fall of 2016.
Jared began his musical career when he started playing cello in the fourth grade, which he still occasionally picks up today. In high school, he sang in the solo choir and music directed his co-ed high school a cappella group, Be S#arp, leading them to victory in the 2013 Wyvern A Cappella Festival. With the solo choir, he was able to travel to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in 2013.
At UConn, Jared participates in the University Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, the UConn operas, and co-directs one of UConn’s all male A Cappella groups, the UConn Conn Men. Recently, Jared traveled to Ireland and Germany with the University Chamber Singers, and collaborated with both the University College of Dublin Chamber Singers and the University of Mannheim Chamber Choir.
In addition to singing, Jared has many diverse interests. In high school, he wrestled and pole vaulted, and now continues to be active and very passionate about weightlifting. Jared is also learning to cook this summer! His favorite dish to make right now is sausage, onions, and peppers over pasta, because it's as easy as it is delicious.
Jared first heard of the Hyannis Sound on Youtube, and decided to audition after watching almost every video of them online.
Jared would like to thank his family, friends, and professors, and mentors for their continued encouragement and support, and can't wait to see what another summer has in store with the amazing family that is Hyannis Sound!
