Mike Hubbard
Reading, PA |  Berklee College of Music '11

This is Mike Hubbard's first summer on the Cape with the Hyannis Sound.

Hailing from Reading, PA, Mike has been involved in music since the age of five, when, after teaching songs to himself on the piano, his parents signed him up for some lessons. He attended the Hill School in Pottstown, PA, where he played piano in the jazz band and orchestra, sang in the chamber choir, concert choir, and the all-male a cappella group, the Hilltones. During his senior year, he also played the part of Jesus in the musical "Godspell," which was probably not a good thing for his ego.

Mike attended Connecticut College for two years as a Religious Studies major with a double minor in Music and Italian. He sang with the all-male a cappella group, the CoCo Beaux. After his sophomore year, Mike transferred to the Berklee College of Music as a vocal (and briefly guitar) student, where he became a Songwriting major. He graduated in the spring of 2011.

Mike became aware of the Hyannis Sound through his family friend, Patrick Lundquist, who sang with the group in the summer of 2008. During his final spring semester, Mike realized that the real world was quickly approaching and that he needed some sort of job to support his music addiction. Although he thought it impossible to get into the Sound, Mike auditioned, and, much to his surprise, got in. Months after the fact, he is still utterly shocked to be a member.

He would like to thank his parents, his sister, and his dog, Tess, for all of their unflinching support. Mike is also a solo artist who recently finished his first EP with his band, which will be available soon.
