Has HS affected the general trajectory of your life?

When I think about all of the experiences and people that have shaped me into the person I am today, there’s really no doubt that my family, and my Hyannis Sound family, have been two of the biggest contributors. While it’s easy to point to the guys who you sang with as being your best friends and brothers, some of my best friends in Hyannis Sound are guys who I never sang with. There are alumni whom I have learned so much from, and whom I consider to be some of my best friends. As an alumnus, I hope I can become that positive influence on the coming generations of the group.

Tell us about your favorite on-stage moment...:

It's so hard to point out one favorite on-stage moment because every show provided something unique. Laughing at the inside jokes that every summer had, getting goosebumps when the group locked in, and making fun of each others' talkabouts created entire summers of favorite moments.

What is your favorite HS transportation moment?:

Riding in Micah’s van was always a blast. It was awesome for all ten of us to pile in and cruise around listening to stand-up comedy and Coop’s unique blend of 80’s rock and candy pop. I’ll never forget us trying to get off-cape for a radio gig and Cooper driving in the opposite direction than we were supposed to. None of us realized it until we had driven over an hour the wrong way. We needed a bleep button for the remainder of the car ride.

Patrick’s convertible was awesome, too. While extremely cold after night gigs, it was nice to have a brief moment of solitude since you couldn’t hear a word anyone else in the car was saying. His car also set the stage for the infamous JEBO (Jeff Eames Back-Out) where Jeff managed to back into Patrick’s car as it was parked directly behind him. I was impressed. Patrick was not.

What was your craziest HS tour adventure?:

Listening to the first edits of High Tide with Brendon and Kevin in Kevin's car. We were in T's driveway in beautiful Woodstock, VT. That was an adventure to say the least.

What is your favorite HS recording?:

“Pride” and “Story of a Girl” off of 110 were the first a cappella tracks that I thought actually sounded cool (a difficult feat to accomplish). My sister burned those two songs onto a CD and that’s what made me look into to Hyannis Sound in the first place.

The more recent recordings all blend together because the arrangements are better than anything I could arrange, the solos are better than anything I could sing, and the production quality is Ed.
